Curing HCG Diet Constipation

One of the normal side-effects of the HCG diet is constipation. This is quite normal with low calorie diets and should not be a cause for worry. The problem is that once you get constipated for let’s say more than three days, you usually stop losing weight.

We say that HCG diet constipation is a normal side-effect because it happens quite frequently to many HCG dieters. The truth, however, is that you are not supposed to get constipated with the HCG diet. It is after all a detox which maintains your metabolic process in tip-top operating condition.  The fiber coming from the fruits and vegetables you consume and the great amount of liquids you drink should be enough to offset the effects of the low calorie and protein diet which causes the constipation. Actually, there could only be few reasons why you get constipated with the HCG diet. You are cheating and as a result not getting the correct balance between the calories, proteins and fibers or you are taking constipation causing drugs like pain-killers, iron pills and anti-depressants.

What to do to get your bowels moving again? Quite easy, you only have to get more fiber and liquids into your body. You probably have to see if the diet menu you are currently following really conforms to the stated requirements – 500 calories a day and it must be a detox. You may be neglecting the detox part and thus getting constipated. Increasing the fiber content of your recipe may not work fast enough. Taking supplements like psyllium husks or sugarless Metamucil will surely do the trick fast. If by any chance the constipation is caused by drugs, then simply stop taking them and find suitable replacements. There’s another food solution to the problem and this is to engage in some exercises.
